A CBF sorteou os 16 confrontos da terceira fase da Copa do Brasil. O Cruzeiro, maior vencedor da competição com seis taças, enfrenará o Remo. Já o atual campeão Atlético-MG terá o Brasiliense pela frente. Os cariocas Flamengo e Fluminense medirão forças com Altos-PI e Vila Nova-GO, respectivamente. A estreante Portuguesa-RJ encara o Corinthians, e o Azuriz-PR, que também participa do torneio pela primeira vez, vai duelar com o Bahia.
O Palmeiras, comandado pelo técnico português Abel Ferreira, enfrentará a Juazeirense-BA, que eliminou o Vasco. A terceira fase também terá uma clássico nordestino; Fortaleza x Vitória. O Botafogo duelará com a Ceilândia, e o Juventude com o São Paulo.
Ao todo 32 clubes seguem na disputa, sendo que 12 deles estreiam na terceira fase: América-MG, Athletico-PR, Atlético-MG, Bragantino, Corinthians, Flamengo, Fluminense, Fortaleza e Palmeiras, Remo, Bahia e Botafogo,
As partidas estão previstas para ocorrer nas semanas de 20 de abril e 11 maio. Diferentemente das fases anteriores, a partir da terceira haverá jogos de ida e volta. Em caso de igualdade no placar agregado das duas partida, a decisão será por pênaltis. Quem avançar às oitavas de final garante premiação de R$ 3 milhões da CBF.
