O ex-pugilista brasileiro e tricampeão mundial Éder Jofre morreu na madrugada deste domingo (2), aos 86 anos. A informação foi compartilhada no perfil do ex-atleta no Instagram.
Éder Jofre estava internado desde março deste ano em uma clínica em São Paulo devido a uma pneumonia.
O ex-lutador ficou conhecido como Galo de Ouro, é tricampeão mundial dos pesos-pena e galo e integrante do Hall da Fama do boxe. Ele chegou a ser eleito o 9º melhor boxeador de todos os tempos pela revista The Ring.
Jofre disputou 81 lutas ao longo dos quase 20 anos de carreira, entre 1957 e 1976, com 75 vitórias, 50 nocautes, quatro empates e duas derrotas.
O brasileiro sofria ainda de encefalopatia traumática crônica, antes chamada de demência pugilística, o que afetou a memória dele nos últimos anos.
