O mês de agosto é de muita alegria para os parnaibanos, já que até 2019 a cidade não possuía uma maternidade municipal e as gestantes tinham que se deslocar até outros municípios.
O dia 1º de agosto fica marcado para os parnaibanos pela realização de um grande sonho, que é a maternidade municipal. A implantação do equipamento público, que conta com Centro de Parto Natural com atendimento humanizado, 21 leitos, uma Unidade de Cuidados Intensivos – UCI e tem capacidade para realizar até 180 partos por mês, é considerada a concretização de um verdadeiro sonho para as gestantes da cidade.
Milhares de famílias já foram atendidas pela unidade; tanto que no mesmo dia que a maternidade completou 3 anos de inauguração, foi realizado o parto do bebê 3.400. E até a última segunda-feira (8) foram registrados 3.411 partos, deste total, 2.225 partos foram normais e outros 1.159 foram cesáreas.
Atualmente a maternidade está localizada no bairro Campo da Vila, entre o Complexo Hospitalar Santana de Parnaíba e o PAM Santa Ana. E para ampliar e melhorar ainda mais a qualidade dos serviços prestados às famílias do município, a prefeitura está trabalhando para entregar o Novo Hospital e Maternidade da cidade. Com uma moderna e completa estrutura, a ala destinada aos cuidados obstétricos será mais ampla que a atual, terá um layout voltado a oferecer um melhor desempenho no acompanhamento das mamães, além de contar com aparelhos para a execução de partos de maior complexidade.
