O Palmeiras levou a melhor no clássico contra o Santos, ao vencer em 1 a 0, no Allianz Parque, na 11ª e última e penúltima rodada da fase classificatória do Campeonato Paulista. O jogo foi definido nos acréscimos do primeiro tempo, com pênalti convertido pelo meia Raphael Veiga. O lance que originou o pênalti, uma falta do zagueiro Emiliano Velázquez causou a expulsão do defensor e o Santos atuou com um jogador a menos durante todo o segundo tempo. 
Com o triunfo desta noite, o Alviverde – já classificado às quarta de final do Paulistão – deslanchou ainda mais na liderança do Grupo C, com 26 pontos, nove a frente do Mirassol (17). Já o Peixe, comandado por Fabián Bustos, dependerá da última rodada para tentar a classificação. O Peixe ocupa a terceira posição no Grupo D, com 10pontos, a apenas dois do vice-lider Santo André (12). Em primeiro da chave está o Bragantino, com 19.
Diante de público superior a 38 mil pessoas no Allianz Parque, o Verdão pressionou o Peixe desde os primeiros minutos. O Santos resistiu como pôde, com boa marcação no meio de campo. Mesmo com mais domínio de bola, e insistir em jogadas pelas laterais de campo, o gol de João Paulo foi pouco ameaçado. Aos 23 minutos, a primeira chance real de gol foi do Peixe, com Ricardo Goulart que testou uma bola venenosa para o chão que parou no goleiro Weverton. O Verdão respondeu no ataque, mas João Paulo fechou o gol por duas vezes: numa cabeçada de Gustavo Gómez e um chute de Rafael.
Já nos acréscimos, após rebote de um chute do meia alviverde Zé Rafael, o zagueiro Velázquez cometeu pênalti, após acertar o peito de Kuscevic dentro da área, e como já recebera minutos antes um cartão amarelo – por chutar Rony na cabeça – o defensor acabou expulso. O meia Raphael Veiga cobrou com precisão no canto direito, sem chances para o goleiro João Paulo, e colocou o Verdão na frente do placar.
Na volta do intervalo, o Verdão desperdiçou uma chuva de gols. Já nos primeiros cinco minutos: primeiro Dudu bateu cruzado e na sequência Rony desviou para o gol, mas errou. Depois foi o lateral esquerdo Jorge, numa linda jogada individual pela esquerda. Ele se livrou de três marcadores, mas não ganhou do goleiro João Paulo, que salvou o Santos mais uma vez. O Palmeiras seguiu dominando a partida, mas errou nas finalizações. Já nos minutos finais, o Peixe quase empatou com um chute de Gabriel Pirani, mas desta vez foi o goleiro Weverton que brilhou.

O domingo (13) foi feliz para a torcida do Tricolor paulista que viu o time golear o Mirassol fora de casa por 3 a 0, na 11ª rodada e penúltima rodada da fase classificatória do Campeonato Paulista. Os gols foram marcados Reinaldo, de pênalti, Rigoni e Toró. Com o triunfo, o São Paulo lidera o grupo B, com 20 pontos, e não pode mais ser alcançado pelos demais times da chave. No sábado (12), o Tricolor já garantira a classificação às quartas de final, após a derrota da Ferroviária (Grupo B) para o Guarani (Grupo A). Apesar da derrota, o Mirassol é vice-líder do grupo B, com 17 pontos, atrás apenas do Palmeiras.
