O Ministério da Defesa russo anunciou neste sábado (16) que liberou toda a área urbana de Mariupol das forças ucranianas e disse que apenas alguns combatentes permanecem na siderúrgica Azovstal, palco de vários confrontos.
Em uma publicação online, o ministério disse que até 16 de abril as forças ucranianas na cidade portuária sitiada haviam perdido mais de 4 mil pessoas.
Os combatentes russos tentam há várias semanas tomar o porto, que fica no Mar de Azov, a nordeste do Mar Negro.
“Toda a área urbana de Mariupol foi completamente liberada… os remanescentes do grupo ucraniano estão completamente bloqueados no território da usina metalúrgica Azovstal”, disse o ministério.
“A única chance de eles salvarem suas vidas é abaixar voluntariamente suas armas e se render.”
Não houve reação imediata de Kiev à declaração do ministério russo, que também disse que 1.464 militares ucranianos se renderam até agora.

Today, I went to the beach front with my children.
