Um submarino “fantasma” que estava à deriva no Oceano Pacífico foi encontrado pela Marinha da Colômbia no último domingo (12). Dentro da embarcação foram apreendidas 2,6 toneladas de cloridrato de cocaína, duas pessoas em más condições de saúde e dois cadáveres.

Segundo informações da Marinha, os dois indivíduos que foram encontrados com vida foram encaminhados à assistência de saúde. O estado de saúde crítico é associado à inalação de gases tóxicos provenientes do combustível do submarino, que haveria vazado no interior da embarcação. Esse seria o mesmo motivo pelo qual os outros dois tripulantes da embarcação teriam vindo a óbito.

Ainda segundo autoridades locais, o veículo subaquático, que sofria com a entrada de água quando foi descoberto, levava um material correspondente a R$ 460 milhões em drogas.

Pelas redes sociais, o comandante Cristian Andrés afirmou que o veículo subaquático teria como destino final países da América Central: “No Pacífico Colombiano, conseguiu-se a interdição de um semissubmersível que transportava 2.643 kg de cloridrato de cocaína, o que equivale a mais de 6 milhões de doses que teriam como destino a América Central”.

Os submarinos “fantasma” são assim denominados devido ao tamanho e ao material que são produzidos (geralmente de fibra de vidro). Dessa forma, eles conseguem passar despercebidos por radares das autoridades governamentais, facilitando o contrabando.

A embarcação encontrada no domingo possuía tamanho aproximado de 2,5 m de largura e 15 m de comprimento.
