A passarela que liga a Praça Carlos de Castro à estação da CPTM já está funcionando plenamente. A escada rolante entrou em operação nesta manhã de quinta-feira (24).
O novo acesso é totalmente acessível com escadas fixas, elevador e escadas rolantes, a passarela foi construída com recursos municipais e funcionava parcialmente desde dezembro.
A escada rolante estava inoperante em virtude da necessidade de troca de peça importada de responsabilidade da empresa OTIS, que havia sido entregue errada.
A peça que foi substituída é fabricada na China e precisou ser enviada ao Brasil por navio, procedimento demorado tanto pelo tempo de viagem como pelos trâmites burocráticos de liberação portuária e alfandegária.
Antiga passarela
Em 2017, a Prefeitura demoliu a antiga passarela da CPTM localizada sobre a Avenida Feres Nacif Chaluppe. A intervenção removeu 500 toneladas de entulho do equipamento e das escadas de acesso à praça Carlos de Castro e face norte, que também servia de entrada para a estação Itapevi.
A região da passarela demolida foi revitalizada e ganhou benfeitorias com a revitalização da Praça Carlos de Castro, novo calçamento de vias e moderno abrigo de ponto de táxi, além da reforma da região da rotatória da Cohab.
